Pamela Jean Hanson was born on Oct.
10, 1957, the daughter of Gary and RuthAnn (Aulwes) Hanson. She grew up and was educated in Dubuque, Iowa, graduating from Wahlert High School in 1975. She received both her bachelor's degree in education and her master's degree in special education from the University of Iowa. Her career began as a dental assistant at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. She went on to become the director of the dental assistant program at Kirkwood Community College, where she was a role model and helped empower many young women to pursue their dreams.
Pam most loved being a mother and an educator. The things that brought her the greatest joy were spending time with her family and her multitude of dear friends, as well as traveling, flower gardening and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, her alma mater.
She was involved in ARC, many cancer associations and volunteer organizations. Pamela was a special person who touched many lives and will be remembered with love by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Left to cherish Pamela's memories are her children, Alexis Hanson of Iowa City and Andrew Hanson of Cedar Rapids; father, Gary (June) Hanson of Galena, Ill.; two brothers, Jeff (Cindy) Hanson and Mitchell Hanson (Tina Pitz), both of Dubuque; a niece, Lizz Hanson; and aunt, Joan Hinzman of Guttenberg.
