Dave Benson passed away at age 67 in Anamosa on July 29, 2017. The family will host a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home followed by a service at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anamosa.
Born in Omaha, Neb., David Thomas Benson was one of four siblings born to parents Jim and Maran Benson. After growing up with his siblings, Barb, Mary and Steve, Dave went on to graduate with a degree in business administration from the University of Iowa.
Dave spent a great deal of his life in the Cedar Rapids area and most of his career as owner of Mitchell Benson Photography, Benson Color Tech and North40. He and his wife, Pam, married on April 17, 1982, and enjoyed 35 years together, making their home in Anamosa. In his youth, Dave was an active Eagle Scout. He also was passionate about street rods, hunting and fishing. Dave was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Anamosa.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Jim.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; children, Jared and Lindsay; mother, Maran; siblings, Barb, Mary and Steve; and his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to have donations made in his memory to the Boy Scouts of America.
