Reeve, Robert Charles
Funeral services for Robert Charles Reeve, 85, of Tipton, who died Friday, April 1, 2011, at Mercy Iowa City, will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, at First United Methodist Church, Tipton. Pastor Paul Frederiksen will be officiating. There will be a visitation at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Tipton American Legion and Tipton Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Robert was born May 26, 1925, in Cedar County, Iowa, the son of Dale Ransom and F. Edith (Titman) Reeve. He was a graduate of Tipton Community School. On Feb. 20, 1950, Robert was united in marriage to Geraldine Joy Mente at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Robert served in the United States Army during World War II as a paratrooper.
He owned and operated Reeve Feed Service in Tipton for 35 years.
Robert was a member of the Tipton Lions for 50+ years and was a Melvin Jones award recipient, past American Legion commander, was involved with the United Fund and served on the Tipton Zoning Board.
Robert is survived by his wife, Geraldine Reeve of Tipton; daughter, Gail (Maury) Miller of Tipton; sons, Rex Reeve (Phil McAndrew) of Oak Park, Ill., and Bruce (Susan) Reeve of Ankeny; five grandchildren, Cori (Shawn) Mohr, Blaine Miller, Sarah Reeve, Ben Reeve and Jeremy Reeve; a great-grandchild, Claire Olivia Mohr; foreign exchange son, Hugo (Ofe) Duerto of Parana, Argentina; sisters, Marilyn Ailey and Beverly Fitch, both of Tipton; brother, Jack Reeve of Tipton; and sister-in-law, Dolores Timmerman of Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Delbert and James; infant brother, Paul; and sisters, Marjorie Barnes, Dorothy Albaugh and Eldora Miller.
A memorial fund has been established in his memory.
