Bruce, Lena Mae
Lena Mae Bruce, 101, a resident of Willow Gardens, Marion, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the center. Service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with a visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Lena was born July 5, 1911, in Delhi, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Susie Bowers Taylor. She married John W. Bruce on June 28, 1932. He passed away in 1988.
Survivors include her children, Melvina Bruce, Betty (Tommy) Tucker and Maria Murphy, all of Marion, Alice (Gene) Covington of Clarence and Martha Scott of West Virginia; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; stepmother, Nellie Taylor; three brothers; five sisters; a half brother; two stepsisters; two stepbrothers; son-in-law, Tony Murphy; two grandsons, David Covington and Dale Scott; and two great-grandsons.
