Freno Sr., Steven Douglas
Steven Douglas Freno Sr. passed away from a sudden illness on Nov. 21, 2012.
He was born Oct. 27, 1950, in Battle Creek, Mich.
He leaves behind his wife, Pam; one daughter, Shawn; seven sons, Steve Jr., Nathan (Aerin), Nicholas (Stephanie), Skyler (Maria), Mathew, Randy (Laura) and Brian, all of Cedar Rapids; 21 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two sisters, Cheryl Frederick of Cedar Rapids and Barbara Anderson of Decorah; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlena Eakins; his father, Joseph Freno; brother, Thomas Freno; and nephew, Brian Hobart.
He was a self-employed painter and entrepreneur. He was an avid softball player who played for 40 years in the Cedar Rapids ASA. He also was an avid billiards player and treasure hunter.
His proudest accomplishment was having eight children to carry on the Freno legacy.
As per his request, there will be no funeral services.
