Delbert Leroy Selken, 85, died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, in his home. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be
from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Cristy (Tom) Cornally of Cedar Falls and Michael (Mildred) Selken of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Patrick Cornally of New York; and two stepgrandchildren, Maria Cristina Atehortua and Maria Alejandra Atehortua, both of Barranquilla, Columbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Raymond Selken and Leona Bottema.
Delbert was born March 7, 1931, in Benton County, Iowa. He was the son of Willie and Anna Oehlerich Selken. He worked and retired from Rockwell Collins for 35 years. On Nov. 27, 1952, Delbert and Betty Neve were united in marriage in La Porte City.
Delbert's family and work were his life's passion. Delbert was a Boy Scout leader for many years and he enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors, touring the John Deere tractor plants, tractor shows and boating.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
