MARTY DIRKS

Marty Dirks, 50, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Springville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014.
Marty is survived by his wife, Maria; two sons, Brandon (Lindsee) Dirks and Travis Dirks; two daughters, Nicole Dirks and Lindsey Dirks; seven grandchildren, Aleah, Hunter, Landon, Mikayla, Adicyn, Reygan and Hailey; and one brother, Jim Dirks (Carlene).
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger Dirks.
Marty was born March 13, 1964, in Anamosa, Iowa, the youngest son of Marvin and Dorothy Dirks. He married Cora Merritt on June 30, 1984. They had four children. They divorced April 7, 1993. He married Maria.
He served in the Marines from 1985 to 1989. He did boot camp in San Diego, Calif., and communication school at Twentynine Palms, Calif. He served in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
For the last years of his life, he worked as a butcher. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
