State lotteries prey on the elderly

To the editor:
Iowa Insurance Commissioner Nick Gerhart will be hosting a 'fraud fighters forum” in Coralville to help seniors protect themselves against scams.
There's some irony in that since the state itself - through legalized gambling - preys on the elderly.
From lotteries, to racetracks, to casinos, all stand ready to take away the hard-earned dollars of our vulnerable senior citizens - and most of them are open 24 hours a day!
