Dwight C. Durfey, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017. He joined his parents, Don and Osa Durfey, and has resumed golfing, gardening and fishing in the afterlife.
A celebration of Dwight's life will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, where visitation will begin at 9 a.m.
Dwight was the beloved husband of Pat (Farrington), loving father of Steve (Lisa) Durfey and Chris (Shawn) Day, and the proud grandfather of Emily and Lauren Durfey. He also is survived by siblings Audie (Mary) Durfey and Mary Ellen Gilbert (friend Jan).
Dwight worked for Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids (including a number of increasing managerial responsibilities and traveling to some very far-away locations in the world) from 1967 to 1998, when he retired early to enjoy life.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Mercy, especially his nurse, Debbie, for the extraordinary support and care they provided.
