ROGER THOMAS
Center Point
Roger Allan Thomas, 57, of Center Point, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, by the Rev. Mike Ellson. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at the funeral home. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine; children, Seth (Megan) Thomas and Alicia Thomas, grandson, Kyler Thomas, sister, Linda (Chuck) Norman, and brother, Randy (Julie) Thomas, all of Center Point; and his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Roger was born March 21, 1958, the son of Fred and Darlene (Carver) Thomas, in San Jose, Calif. A graduate of Center Point High School, he served with the United States Army from 1976 to 1980. On Sept. 21, 1985, Roger was united in marriage to Katherine Ann Knight at Sacred Heart Church in Walker.
Roger worked for the city of Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years, member of Center Point Ambulance Service for 22 years and assistant scoutmaster for eight years.
Roger loved classic cars, trucks and riding his Harley. He enjoyed camping and spending time with his family, especially with his grandson, Kyler.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Roger.
