James C. Heskje, 72, of Cedar Rapids, died at St. Luke's Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at Teahen Funeral Home.
James is survived by his daughter, Kim (Gary) Whiting of Center Point; three sons, Jim of Marion, Eric (Josie) of Hiawatha and Ryan (Marjorie) of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and sisters, Marilyn Scott of Cedar Rapids and Mary (Clyde) Smith of Lakewood, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Eleanor Heskje; and brother, Richard Heskje.
James was born in Cedar Rapids on Sept. 18, 1944, the son of T.J. and Ruth Gatens Heskje. James was married to Linda Smith for 37 years.
He was a proud graduate from the University of Iowa with a master's degree in mechanical engineering.
James enjoyed playing euchre, listening to music and watching sports. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan. He had a great sense of humor, a strong faith, and many wonderful friends, and he loved spending time with his family.
