Carol Jean Christensen, 88, of Rogers, Minn., and formerly of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 21, 2017, at The Wellstead of Rogers in Rogers.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Marion, Iowa, officiated by Pastor Mike Morgan. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the memorial service. Private family entombment will take place at the Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Carol was born on April 16, 1928, in Marion, Iowa, to James and Carrie (Mullen) Fairley. She was united in marriage with James Christensen on Jan. 14, 1951, in Marion. Together they had three sons. Carol worked as a clerk and stenographer for the Milwaukee Railroad from 1957 until 1980, then as a clerk at the Linn County Recorder's Office from 1983 until her retirement in 1990.
Carol was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Hannah Circle; she was very active in the life of the church. She resided several years at Summit Pointe in Marion, where she had many close friends. She loved to go on field trips, enjoyed concerts and music, and she was known for her delicious pies and caramel corn!
Carol is survived by her three sons and their families, Barry and Sandy of Eloy, Ariz., Scott and Lisa of Ramsey, Minn., and Chris and Cate of Minnetrista, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James, in 2005; and brother, Donald Fairley, in 1976.
