Eleanor Murphy, 87, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at her home in Lisbon following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Pastor Brad Singleton will officiate at the services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

Surviving are five children, Gloria (Sam) Capron, Lisbon, Joyce (Pete) Rudish, Mount Vernon, Debbie (Mel) Freese, San Antonio, Texas, Teresa (David) Murray, Marion, and David (Dania) Bebber, Bettendorf; two stepgrandchildren, Vicki Murphy, Lisbon, and Kay Wente, Waterloo; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Moyer, Central City; and a half sister, Ethel Mescher, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Charles Bebber and Elmer Murphy; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy (Dale) Vargason; two great-grandchildren, Aleaha and Mitchell; two stepsons, Richard and Alan Olmstead; two brothers, Wayne and Kenneth Long; and a half brother, LaVerne Long.
Eleanor Elsie Long was born July 8, 1928, in Tipton, Iowa, the daughter of James and Elsie Goodall Long. Eleanor graduated from Tipton High School in 1946 and then attended Business College in Davenport. She married Charles Bebber on Sept. 2, 1948, in Springville. The couple lived in Springville and later Anamosa. Eleanor worked as a cook at the schools in both towns. Charles precedef her in death on Aug. 17, 1974. Eleanor married Elmer Murphy on Oct. 25, 1980. The couple lived in Anamosa before moving to Mount Vernon in 2003. Elmer preceded her in death March 11, 2005.
For the past three years Eleanor has lived at Meyers Meadows in Lisbon. She was an active part of the Southeast Linn Community Center in Lisbon. She had been a Blue Bird and Camp Fire leader when her girls were small. Eleanor always enjoyed time she spent with her family.
