Marion
Richard L. Bevins, 89, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Marion, died Friday, March 9, 2018, in Mission. Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Visitation will be one hour before Mass Saturday at the church.
Survivors include a brother, Jack Bevins; brother-in-law, Bob Bell (DeeAnn); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat, in 2013; his sisters, Mary Ellen Novak (Otto), Betty Curtis and Joyce Wedo (Ron); and a brother, Francis Bevins.
Dick was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Nov. 26, 1928, to Helen Ward Bevins and George Clifford Bevins. He married Patricia Bell on Nov. 27, 1950 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. He served in the Army in the Korean War from 1951 to 1952.
He and Pat were active in the American Legion, Elks Club and VFW. He worked at Kings concrete until they retired and moved to Mission. Texas.
