Car crashes into motorcycle, sends one to hospital

A car crashed into a motorcycle at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, sending the motorcyclist to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for serious injuries.
Steven Burgess, 52, of Cedar Rapids, was headed south on Jacolyn Drive SW when he pulled his motorcycle out in front of a car driving west on 16th Avenue SW.
Police officials said that Burgess was conscious and talking when they arrived at the accident, and that he was taken to St. Luke's Hospital before being transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. His condition is unknown but officers said his injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
The driver of the car, Carol Trester, 61, of Vinton, was not harmed in the accident.
The crash is still under investigation by Cedar Rapids police and no charges have been filed.
