Golden parachutes for Iowa coaches

I have an opinion in regards to the front page story on June 28 outlining the treatment of coaches Tracey Griesbaum and Chris Doyle.
Both coaches were terminated for maintaining a system of bullying in their respective programs. While the details of Griesbaum's actions were kept secret, Doyle's were laid bare by the public tweets of many, many student athletes, to the amazement of supporters who had assumed these types of transgressions were demons conquered in 60s and 70s. Now Coach Griesbaum feels slighted in her compensation for being fired?
Hmmm, Doyle receives $1.4 million and 15 months' health and dental. Coach Griesbaum receives $220,000 plus her half of $6.5 million. To the average Joe, these two settlements seem unbelievably generous. In my case, I should have attempted to get rightfully fired from the Postal Service I served for 33 years if these types of golden parachutes had existed for the common Iowan.
In my day getting fired was shameful, now it's the epitome of guaranteed wealth. Thank God no tax dollars rolled to these two individuals, as there is no place in collegiate sport for dinosaurs practicing bullying in the 21st Century.
