It was a case of déjà vu for Waterloo police Wednesday morning, thanks to the actions of a man they had released from custody Tuesday night.
According to a news release, police arrested Derrick J. Morehead, 22, of 311 Cutler Street in Waterloo, around 9:24 p.m. Tuesday after pulling him over for a traffic violation at the intersection of Newell and Peek streets. Police said Morehead had more than 42.5 grams of marijuana in his possession, which was seized, along with about $200 in cash.
Morehead was taken to Black Hawk County Jail on suspicion of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and a drug tax stamp violation.
But Morehead was not satisfied with ending his night there.
Police said Morehead posted bond around 12:52 a.m. Wednesday and was released, but was again pulled over for a traffic violation at 1:25 a.m. at East Fourth and Mulberry streets.
Morehead was searched and was again arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and a drug tax stamp violation. Police seized more than 48 grams of marijuana from Morehead, along with $95 in cash.
Morehead was released from custody again Wednesday morning after posting bond.
