Fitch, Forrest 'Dewey' Duane

Memorial services for Forrest “Dewey” Duane Fitch, 86, of Tipton, who died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City, will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at First United Methodist Church, Tipton. Pastor Paul Frederiksen will be officiating. There will be a visitation at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery, with military rites provided by the Tipton American Legion and Tipton Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Dewey was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Tipton, Iowa, the son of Edward William and Elinor Nicholson Reeder Fitch. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942-1946 during World War II. Dewey was united in marriage to Beverly Maureen Reeve on April 28, 1951, in New Liberty, Iowa.

He was a retired parts manager and mechanic at the Ford Garage in Tipton. Dewey was a member of First United Methodist Church in Tipton, Durant American Legion and Tipton VFW Post 2537.

Dewey is survived by his wife, Beverly Fitch of Tipton; daughter, Sandra Corbett of Tipton; sons, Lyle (Cynthia) Fitch of Tipton, Brian (Hong) Fitch of West Westminster, Colo., and Brett (Keri) Fitch of Solon; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald “Dick” Fitch of Colorado Springs, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Fitch; and brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Charles and Marvin Fitch.

Memorials may be made to Tipton Senior Center in memory of Dewey.
