Robert C. Juett, 76, Marion. On Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, Jesus took Bob's hand and led him to the Promised Land, where he will live for eternity with his Lord and Savior. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at First Assembly of God, where he was a dedicated elder, on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 10:30 a.m., officiated by Pastor Don McGarvey and Pastor Rick Gail. The family will greet friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at First Assembly of God, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Bob was born Dec. 2, 1934, to Robert “Kenny” and Luella “Madge” (Webster) Juett in Leon, Iowa. His humble upbringing found him sharing a small house trailer with his parents and five siblings as they moved frequently with his father's work in road construction. Bob started his work career with his father at only 10 years old. He attended 32 different schools and graduated from Lisbon High School. One of his jobs took him to Brooklyn, Iowa, where he met his wife at the Ice Cream Cottage. On June 19, 1955, Bob married Dorothy Andrews and continued to love her more each day for the next 55 years. Bob was an adoring and devoted husband, and their love shone brightly to all who met them.
The Lord blessed them with two children, Jerry and Barbara, and he loved them unconditionally.
Bob and Dorothy raised them in a home they built with their own hands. He taught them many of his numerous skills, in his own gentle way, setting a good example for them to live by. Jerry married Janet (McMillan) in 1976 and Barbara married Dick Schmidt in 2002.
Bob studied for a career in electronics so he could provide a more permanent home for his family. He worked as a test technician at Rockwell Collins for 31 years. After retirement, he worked part-time jobs driving truck, as a licensed electrician and his final job was at Brucemore with lawn maintenance, retiring in 2006.
Bob's friends and family described him as the most capable self-sufficient man they ever knew. He was also known for his loving smile and quiet, gentle spirit.
Bob was the proud grandfather of Ryan (Angela) McCullough, Nathan Hahne, Janae (Nathan) Scherer, Jason, James (Kelsey) and Jonathan Juett. He also has five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jana and Caleb McCullough and Aspen and Genevieve Scherer.
Bob was a caring big brother to Sue (Dale) O'Brine, Randall (June) Juett and Ron (Nancy) Juett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; older sister and her husband, Jean (Everett) Graver; and youngest brother, Darrell (Clara) Juett.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Bob's memory.
