IOWA CITY - The Iowa Hawkeyes gave 2nd ranked Ohio State all they could handle Tuesday night at Carver Hawkeye Arena, but in the end the Buckeyes won it 73-68.
Iowa led by 6 at the half, but OSU went on a big run in the 2nd to pull ahead by as many as 13. Freshman Jared Sullinger led the Bucks with 24 points and 12 rebounds.
The Hawks countered with a freshman of their own, Melsahn Basabe. Basabe led Iowa with 22 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks. Jarryd Cole and Matt Gatens each had 14 in the loss.
While most fans will say it was a good performance by Fran's crew, the Iowa players aren't buying in to moral victories.
The Hawkeyes are now 7-7 overall, 0-2 in the Big 10.
