McMillan, Doris E.
Doris E. McMillan died Monday, April 1, 2013. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at First Baptist Church, 5200 Northland Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements Cedar Memorial.
Surviving spouse, Ernest McMillan; children, Lynda Courson, Joel McMillan and Janet Juett; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Marilyn Hansen.
She was born in Fairbury, Neb., to Paul and Elsie Snyder. She graduated from Fairbury College as an honor student and served as homecoming queen. She taught school until her marriage to Ernest in 1947. They lived in Cedar Rapids most of their married life. Her talents as a seamstress and baker were featured by The Gazette and local TV. She was a soloist with the church choir for many years. Travels took her to all 50 states and 13 foreign countries. Living a full life, she willingly shared with others.
