Richard Allan Savage, 81, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at his residence in Santa Barbara, Calif., after succumbing to a brain tumor.

In 1952, Richard re-enlisted, and posted overseas during the Korean War. After completing his second enlistment, Richard returned to Cedar Rapids, where he began a career in photography. Richard and his family then moved to California where he continued his photographic career until his retirement in 2010.
He is survived by his wife Johanna; sons, Jeffery S. Savage of San Diego, Calif., and Stewart A. Savage, wife Roberta, and granddaughter, Victoria, of Davis, Calif.; brother, David L. Savage, wife, Ann, of Bellevue, Iowa; and sister, Beverly A. Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
