Hines, Ray Wayne
Ray Wayne Hines, 100, of Belle Plaine, went home to be with the Lord and to join other loved ones on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, by the Rev. Charles Johnson. Burial will be in Rector Cemetery, Chelsea. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Ray is survived by his seven children, Lyle (Joy) Hines, Luella (Dale) Johnson, Larry (Cyndee) Hines, Linda (Don) Morrow, Katy (Bill) Grieder, LaDonna (John) Zhorne and Monica Jacobi (Wendell Sollars); 37 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and also sister-in-law, Leola Hines; nephew, Leonard Hines; brother-in-law, Vic Snyder; and niece, Sandra Wellman.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Lyda Thibadeau Hines in 2007; a son, Lowell Dean in 1958; brother, Clyde Hines; and sister, Alberta Snyder.
Ray was born Jan. 27, 1912, in Edgewood, Iowa. On June 9, 1933, he married Lyda Thibadeau. Ray and Lyda were married for 74 years, and owned and operated Ryan Hardware in Chelsea, retiring in 1975. Since 1984, Ray and Lyda would spend their winters in Casa Grande, Ariz. This January Ray celebrated his 100th birthday with a party in Arizona joined by several of his family and friends.
A memorial fund has been established.
