Richard E. Eidemiller, 79, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. A Masonic service will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, followed by the family greeting friends until 8 p.m. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Mount Clark Cemetery, Central City, with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
Richard is survived by his wife, Christine of Cedar Rapids; children, Barbara (Steve) Baty of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Patti) Eidemiller of Mukwonago, Wis., Steven (Dawn Marben) Eidemiller of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Robert (Mindy) Eidemiller of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; stepchildren, Karen (Randy) Peyton of Troy Mills, Julie Peyton of Coggon and Jamie (Ron) Harris of Greenville, Wis.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Michelle Daugherty.
Richard was born Jan. 8, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Edwin and Ruth (Hafemeister) Eidemiller. On May 28, 1983, he married Christine Haley at Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion. Richard retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He also worked as a field service engineer at Rockwell. Richard was a past master of Miztah Lodge No. 639 A.M. & A.F. He was a member of the El Kahir Shrine and participated in the color guard, the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite, American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion, VFW Post No. 788 of Cedar Rapids and the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Richard's memory.
