Dale Alan Snyder, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 7, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Brosh Chapel. A private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Dale was born Jan. 30, 1939, in Agency, the son of Leslie and Mabel (Birkenbine) Snyder. He graduated from Agency High School in 1958. Dale was united in marriage to Nancy Pumphrey on Feb. 7, 1959. To this union three children were born: David, Ann and Steve.
Dale was self-employed all his life. He enjoyed fishing, stock-car racing, working, fixing things and most of all, spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Dale is survived by his children, David Snyder, Ann (Rod) Tierney and Steve (Tracy) Snyder, all of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Tierney, Michael (Ashleigh) Tierney, Kyle (Tiffany) Tierney and Ryan Fairchild; his great-grandchildren, Tait, Truman, Hadley, Makston, Grace and Aubrey; his former wife, Nancy Thomason of Middle Amana; a brother, Marvin (Carolyn) Snyder of Fenton, Mich.; and a sister, Louise Jirsa of Clive; as well as his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Don (Mary Ann) and Loren Snyder; and a brother-in-law, Rejman Jirsa.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in his name.
