Lloyd A. "Bud" Cummings, 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Cottage Grove Place.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, officiated by the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Stateroom and for one hour before the service Monday at the chapel. Private inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Bud was born July 29, 1928, in Independence, Iowa, to Earl and Elsie (Erpelding) Cummings. He assisted on the family farm until enlisting in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from service in Korea, Bud was united in marriage to Ramona Bellach on Nov. 5, 1949, in Cedar Rapids.
Bud owned and operated Quality Auto Rebuilders with his partners, Jim and Bob Raftis, from 1965 until his retirement in 1991.
He was a man of faith and a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He was proud of his military service and was included on an Honor Flight in April 2014.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing golf, traveling and spending time with his family.
He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Bud is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ramona; son, Bob (Teresa) Cummings of Mechanicsville; five grandchildren, Justin Cummings (fiancee, Crystal Horn) of Marion, Jennifer Cummings of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jessica (Zac) Mizaur of Marion, Joshua (Debbie) Cummings of Morley and Jordan Cummings (Jen Nichols) of Mechanicsville; two great-grandchildren, Dominick Williams and Leonardo Cummings; several nieces and nephews; and former daughter-in-law, Donna Cummings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Roger, in 2007; sisters, Ethel Butterfield and Iva Gosnell; and brothers, Clifford and Glenn Cummings.
Memorials in Bud's name may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
