Marvin Verle Colton of West Des Moines, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died peacefully while in Cavanaugh Hospice Center on Dec. 13, 2018. He was born July 14, 1930, to Ralph and Blanche Colton in Gary, Ind. He was one of four boys; Leslie, Eldon and Russell preceded him in death. They moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for Ralph to take a position as a reverend. There, Marvin met the love of his life, Lois Darlene Bammert (who survives at home) while they were both 15 years old. They were married June 8, 1952, and had six children, Mark (Vicki), Rebecca Colton Roughton (Michael), Deborah Brosdahl (Alan), Matthew (Patricia), Paul (Disa) and Martha Mack (Larry). All survive their father.
Marvin was a practicing attorney, obtaining his law degree from the University of Iowa. He practiced in Center Point, Iowa, Centerville, Iowa, and Albia, Iowa.
A funeral service celebrating Marvin's life will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held at the chapel one hour before services. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
