An Iowa City woman has been accused of threatening a Department of Human Services worker and a judge who she said took away her food stamps.
Authorities said on Nov. 10, the Administrative Hearings Division of the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals received an “Appeal and Request for Hearing” form and a handwritten letter from Michelle R. Dixon, 46, of 2401 Highway 6 E.
Dixon threatened to have a DHS worker and the judge involved in her case “executed” if her $200 in food stamps were not returned to her, according to authorities. The threat was communicated in the letter that came with the DHS form, authorities said.
Dixon was being held in the Johnson County Jail Wednesday morning on a $5,000 cash bond. She faces a charge of first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
