John David Plank, 60, of Iowa City, passed away Sept. 4, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born Aug. 15, 1954, in Kalona, Iowa, to Stanley W. and Lena (Troyer) Plank. At age 2, he moved to Iowa City, where he lived and worked most of his life. He spent time living in Chicago before ultimately returning to his native Iowa City, where he served in guidance and as job coach at Systems Unlimited, Arc and Goodwill Industries until disability forced him into retirement.
He is survived by brothers, Carl Joseph (Kristen) Plank and William Stephen (Kim) Plank; nieces, Deanna Knowles, Lori Stephens and Marin Plank; nephews, Kevin Plank and Benjamin Plank; and a cadre of caring good friends and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Lena Plank; oldest brother, Stanley James (Penny) Plank; and Jack, his beloved Jack Russell terrier.
