Ruth Marie Schueler Pickart, 94, a lifelong resident of Marion, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Hearth Stone Memory Care Unit (OES), Boone, Iowa. Funeral service: 1 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, by the Rev. Dr. Howard Chapman. The family will greet friends Saturday, May 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Joan Long and Robert Schueler; grandchildren, Eric (Aleisha) Nesset, Brad (Jill) Nesset, Kirk Nesset and Makiah Miller; and great-grandchildren, Myah, Macy, Eliot and Amelia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Esta Hense; husband, Ronald Schueler; husband, Milton "Chuck" Pickart; sister, Dorothy; and two brothers, Lester and Marshall.
Ruth Marie was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Alburnett, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Esta (Dunlap) Hense. She graduated from Alburnett High School in 1936 and attended Cedar Rapids Business College. Ruth Marie was united in marriage to her first husband, Ronald Schueler, on Dec. 15, 1945, until his passing on March 1, 1982. In 1986, she married Milton "Chuck" Pickart.
She worked for Gordon Hatchery and later Murdoch Funeral Home. She was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, Marion, the OOP Club, PEO Chapter CS and Eastern Star. Ruth Marie was a devoted wife and mother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Heartland Adult Daycare, 405 S. Walnut Ave., Ames, IA 50010.
