Charlene Ardith Van Voltenburg, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015. A private celebration of life service will be held by the family. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca M. (Rodney) Thein, Dean C. Van Voltenburg II, Mike Reed (Mary) Van Volten-burg and Amy Lee (Bill) Kiesel, all of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are two sisters, six brothers, 10 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean C. Van Voltenburg; her son, Burt Van Voltenburg; and a brother.
Charlene was born Jan. 14, 1933, in Linn County Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Bessie (Vogt) Uthoff. She married Dean Calvin Van Voltenburg on Oct. 13, 1951, in Blackhawk County, Iowa. Charlene was fond of spending time with extended family and friends. She enjoyed reading, traveling and fishing. She had a green thumb. She enjoyed roses, irises and many other plants and flowers. She also enjoyed eagle watching.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
