Survivors include his wife, Marcel; a son, Ken of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Kay (Patrick) Cotter of Bloomington, Minn.; two grandchildren, David and Daniel Cotter; and a great-granddaughter, Daisy Cotter.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Floyd was born April 4, 1927, in Springville, the son of Anthony and Dorothy Merritt Lillig. He married Marcel D. Hammer on Nov. 12, 1950, in Des Moines.
Floyd was the chief engineer at Iowa Manufacturing and retired from there after more than 31 years of service.
He was a member of the Iowa State Alumni Association, American Legion, Cedar Rapids Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Bowling Association and Professional Engineering Society. He proudly served in the Army during World War II.
Floyd enjoyed bowling, golf and fishing at Lake Hansen in Ontario, Canada. A fellow Hansen Lake fisherman wrote of Floyd, "A great man that we can all be thankful for. He did more for Hanlake Ltd. and our camp on Lake Hansen than anyone can and will ever know." "He loved every moment he spent in camp and used every moment he could to making it a better place. He could repair anything and knew where every nut was and what it belonged to or could be used for. No one can fill his shoes! We can only hope to do the best we can to keep his love of Hansen alive."
Floyd was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His family and friends all thought he was very special. He was loved very much by Marcel, who was his wife for 66 years, and his adoring children, Kay and Ken, and the Cotter family in Bloomington, Minn.
