Hibu is continuing to reduce its employees in Cedar Rapids.
The Reading, England-based company on Friday notified 44 employees of its directory operations department, 6300 C St. SW, that their jobs were being eliminated. The company also filed an Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice with Iowa Workforce Development that indicated the affected employees will receive wages for the remainder of the payroll period.
Hibu, formerly Yellow Book, confirmed the layoffs in a statement issued in response to media inquiries, but did not provide specifics of the employee reductions.
The statement indicated the latest layoffs are tied to Hibu's initiative launched in April to secure cost efficiencies and savings across the company.
A total of 184 employees lost their jobs at Hibu in April.
A Hibu office in King of Prussia, Pa., also experienced layoffs in April and reportedly saw a reduction Friday.
A directories and digital marketing provider, Hibu has offices in the United Kingdom, United States, Spain, Argentina, Chile and Peru, and has operations in India and the Philippines.
The company, as part of its cost-reduction strategy, has been shifting more responsibilities to operations in Manila, Philippines, and India,
