Toom, Charmaine E.
Charmaine E. Toom, 85, of Fort Madison, formerly of Central City, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Fort Madison Health Center. Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Central City United Church of Christ by the Rev. Vicki Engelmann. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Oakhill Cemetery in Central City.
Survivors include her daughter, Lea Ann (Mark) Binder; three grandchildren, Mark Binder II, Faith Binder and Hope Binder; a brother, Robert (Irene) Lary of Muscatine; and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Charmaine was born March 20, 1928, the daughter of Monroe and Letha (Sawyer) Lary in Central City. She married Lee Ray Toom. He died Sept. 9, 1959. Charmaine attended UNI and taught school for many years in Central City. She was a member of the Historical Society and Central City United Church of Christ.
A memorial fund has been established in Charmaine's memory.
