Schulte, Mary Jane
Mary Jane Schulte, 90, of Marengo, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Rosehaven Nursing Home in Marengo following an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Watkins with Father Brian Dellaert as celebrant. Public visitation also will be held at the church in Watkins from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a rosary service held at 7 p.m. Interment will be held at St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery near Watkins. Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
Mary Jane Farrell was born Dec. 12, 1921, at Fairfax to Omer and Nettie Larson Farrell. She graduated from Norway High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Melvin Schulte on April 29, 1941, at Norway. Melvin preceded her in death in 1981.
Mary Jane was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Watkins, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society.
Survivors include her two sons, Marvin (Sharon) Schulte and Steven (Kathy) Schulte, both of Marengo; her five grandchildren, Kimberly (Bill) Murphy of Algona, Eric (Ellen) Schulte of Parker, Colo., Kayla (Clay) Creek of Littlefield, Texas, and Camille (Rich) Loughner and Monica (Derek) Miller, both of Cedar Rapids; her 10 great grandchildren; and her sister, Glenda (John) Huston of Bella Vista, Ark.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son, Alan, in infancy; her daughter, Patricia; her brother, Jack Farrell; and her sister, Eula Schulte.
A memorial fund has been established.
