Violet Ruth Reif Schulte, 89, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Colonial Manor of Amana, following an extended illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway with Father Craig Steimel as celebrant. Interment will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Norway. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Parish Center.
Violet was born March 5, 1925, at Western, Iowa, to Christian and Lillian (Stransky) Reif. On Jan. 15, 1945, she was united in marriage to Herbert Schulte at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Walford. Herbert preceded her in death Feb. 9, 2000.
Violet was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Norway and Farm Bureau Women. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and taking bus trips. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Violet is survived by her sons, David (Janice) Schulte, Herb (Ellen) Schulte and John (Sheri) Schulte, all of Norway; her daughters, Yvonne (Dennis) Brecht of Watkins and Cheryl (Daryl) Reynolds of Oxford; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Angie Langenberg; her great-grandson, Collin Boston; her sisters, Orvia Novak, Lillian Chaloupka and Ruby Zhorne; and her brothers, Leonard and Lubert Reif and one brother who died in infancy.
