Schulte, James Andrew
James Andrew Schulte, 89, of Postville, was born May 7, 1922, in Dorchester, Iowa. He passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point. He was 89 years old.
James was the son of Andrew Henry and Katherine (Griffin) Schulte. He served with the U.S. Army from 1943-1944 and was stationed in Minnesota and Maryland. James was united in marriage with Lorna Kugel on Nov. 17, 1962. Two sons were born to this union.
James was an over-the-road trucker and he built many houses in the Postville and Cedar Rapids areas.
James is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lorna, of Postville; two sons, Joseph Schulte of Omaha, Neb., and Daniel (Lori) Schulte of Anamosa; three grandsons, Nikolaus, Joshua and Kolin Schulte; three brothers, Andrew, Donald and R. Gregory (Sue) Schulte, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; and one sister, Kathryn (Francis) Stortz of Waukon.
James was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Ralph Schulte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Postville. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday at Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Postville and one hour before services at the church on Saturday. A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home. Interment will be Saturday at St. Mary's Lycurgus Cemetery, rural Waukon.
