Margie Smith, 68, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Graveside service: 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Laurel (Lyndon) Newton of Cedar Rapids, Patricia Taylor of Hiawatha, Eugene Smith III of Illinois, Timothy Smith of East Moline, Ill., Floyd (Shelly) Smith of Houston, Texas, and Pamela Smith of Austin, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; siblings, Harriett Blackman of Florence, Ariz., and Henry Glasby of Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Anthony Glasby; three sisters; and four brothers.
Margie was born Oct. 12, 1948, in St. Louis, Mo., daughter of Floyd and Margie Glasby. She married Eugene "Smitty" Smith Jr. on May 11, 1965, in East St. Louis, Ill. She worked in health care and retail. She truly loved to shop and watch "The Young and The Restless." Margie enjoyed going to family functions and spending time with her grandkids.
