Kenneth V. Johnson, 69, of Palo, formerly of Granville, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.
He was born on Oct. 3, 1949, in Rockford, Ill., to Alfred and Argie Johnson. Ken graduated from Hopkins High in Granville, Ill., Illinois Valley Community College in Peru, Ill., and Illinois State University. He was Career U.S. Navy, a Vietnam and Gulf War Veteran. Ken retired with the rank of Captain after 27 years of service. He was awarded highest honors for his recruiting efforts as part of the Navy Reserve.
He was a member of the VFW, an animal rights advocate and campaigned tirelessly for Veterans rights and benefits.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Johnson; children, Jason (Caycee) Johnson, Jaime (Ryan) Webb and stepdaughter, Kirsten McClendon; brothers, Raymond (Shelly) Johnson and David (Debbie) Johnson; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a private memorial service with full military rights. Cofoid Funeral Home, Granville, Ill., is handling his arrangements.
