V. Louise Sellner, 78, of Marion, passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, surrounded by family. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Marion. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Ed; three children, Debbie (Steve) Drake, Shelley (Ross) Chapman and Tom (Lana) Sellner; five beloved grandchildren, Chelsea, Derek, Rachel, Quinn and Bennett; and her treasured dog, Peaches.
Louise was born July 3, 1936, on the family farm near Walker, Iowa, the daughter of LeRoy and Sarah "Sally" (Kinkead) Newman. Louise graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids in 1955.
On Aug. 23, 1958, she married Edward Sellner at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Louise worked parttime in the cafeteria at St. Joseph's Elementary School in Marion, but her passion was as a full-time mom and grandma. She dearly loved her family and was the center of their lives. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, antique shopping and watching crime dramas.
She was preceded in death by her father, LeRoy Newman; mother, Sally Meroshek; stepfather, Frank Meroshek; brother, Richard Newman; and brother-in-law, Joe Sellner.
