JUNE "JENNIFER" LIDDLE

June Pearl (or Jennifer) Liddle, 84, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital. Her wish was for cremation. A graveside memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Lakeview Gardens Cemetery in Spirit Lake.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lee and Elmira Jane (McDonald) Liddle; her sister, Geraldine (Liddle) Main; and her two brothers, George Lee and Arthur Ralph.
Jennifer was born in 1932 in Terril, Iowa, and graduated from Spirit Lake High School and Cedar Rapids Business College at the head of her class. She worked for KCRG-TV in Cedar Rapids, Marquette University in Milwaukee and for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
She cared for and touched many on her journey through life. She was trusted, respected and loved by family and friends. She was a writer and an advocate for the disenfranchised. She worked for prison reform and was a passionate fighter of injustice.
At the end she said, "I've not had an easy passage, but I've had an interesting one. At the end of the day, I like who I am. No one can ask for more."
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
Turner Jenness Funeral Home, Spirit Lake, is in charge of arrangements.
