Velda McCormick, 79, of Olin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018, in the Hospice Care Unit at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Olin with a visitation before from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery in rural Monticello. Lahey & Dawson Funeral Service is assisting the family at this time.

Velda Addie Mairie was born June 16, 1939, in Manchester, Iowa, to Paul and Lorna (Gienapp) Christiansen. She graduated from Coggon High School. For almost 55 years she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry McCormick. For many years she worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids.

Velda was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Olin. She enjoyed puzzles, watching TV, attending to her flowers and rock garden. She spent much of her time playing and relaxing with her kittens. For many years she sold Avon in the Olin community.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Larry; son, Rodney McCormick of Olin; daughter, Rebecca McCormick of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Ruth Kray of Anamosa and Edna Behneke of Prairieburg; and a brother. Laverne McCormick of Alburnett.

She was greeted in heaven by her parents and a brother, Marvin.
