Jay Edward Daly, 76, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese will officiate.
Jay was born June 21, 1941, in Mason City, Iowa, and graduated from Mason City High School in 1959. After serving in the Marines from 1960 to 1963, he attended Mason City Junior College and Hamilton College to become a professional accountant. He married Linda Helm on Aug. 10, 1974. Jay was a manager of the original McDonald's in Mason City. He worked at Lehigh Cement while attending school. He was a cost accountant and finished his career in administration/ operations in the truck transportation industry.
Jay is survived by his wife, Linda; his sons, Michael (Emily) of Fairfax and David (Veo) of Parker, Ariz.; grandchildren, Ian, Ben and Sophia; sister, Deanna (Ron) Miner of Avon, Ind.; a brother, Tom (Lucille) Daly of Princeton, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orra and Donald Daly; and sisters, Marilyn and Jeanette.
