James L. Dunigan, 70,
of Dyersville, formerly of Cedar Rapids and Cascade, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa.
Friends and relatives of James may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 22, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa, where services will be held at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Full military honors will be afforded by the Cascade American Legion Post 528. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, at a later date.
He was born Jan. 29, 1945, in Cascade, Iowa, son of Al and Mary (Pender) Dunigan. He received his education at St. Martin's School in Cascade. On Sept. 28, 1966, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, he was united in marriage to Bridgitte Dolphin. He was employed at Cargill in Cedar Rapids for 40 years until his retirement in 2007.
Jim had a love for cars and he enjoyed playing cards and his trips to the casino.
He was an Army veteran, having served in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife, Bridgitte Dunigan of Dyersville, Iowa; one sister, Kathy (Ron) Slaughter of Amana, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Jane Evers of Dyersville, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Vincent (Alyce) Dolphin of Cascade, Iowa; nephews, Todd (Tracy) Slaughter, Chad (Kelly) Slaughter, Scott (Kris) Evers, Aaron (Jennifer) Evers and Bradd (Courtney) Evers; and two nieces, Paula Evers and Amy Dolphin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Gary Evers.
