KATHERINE MARIE MCCORMICK
Elkader
Katherine Marie McCormick, 100, of Elkader, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Elkader Care Center.
Katherine was born Aug. 25, 1915, in Manchester to Arthur Sr. and Effie (Boots) Kramer. Her early years were spent with her parents and brother, Arthur Kramer, homesteading in Colorado. The Kramer family returned to Iowa, eventually settling in Elkader. Katherine married Cecil Moyna in 1932. They raised four children: Patricia, John, Jerry and Michael.
Katherine was very proud of the family business they created, C.J. Moyna and Sons, which continues to prosper today.
After Cecil's passing, Katherine married William McCormick in 1972. They enjoyed traveling together until William's passing in 1997.
Katherine enjoyed spending time with her family. She was the matriarch of five generations in the Moyna family. She is survived by her sons, John (Erika) Moyna and Mike (Kathy) Moyna; her son-in-law, Milford Koehn; her daughter-in-law, Judy Moyna; and her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; husbands; daughter, Patricia; and son, Jerry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Central Ambulance or Central Community Hospital, both of Elkader.
The family would like to thank the staff of Elkader Care Center for its dedication and care of Katherine during her final years.
