David Lee Kimm, 64, of Blairstown, died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, following a massive heart attack near Belle Plaine. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Blairstown Legion Hall, with Pastor Mike Ferguson officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Blairstown, with full military rites conducted by M.J. Kirby American Legion Post 170 of Blairstown and Iowa Military Funeral Honors. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Legion Hall.
A memorial fund has been established.
Phillips Funeral Home, Blairstown, is in charge of arrangements.
David was born Oct. 12, 1951, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City to Francis and Martha (Kuester) Kimm. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On Aug. 9, 1975, David was united in marriage to Pat Breja.
David worked for Highway Equipment as a welder for over 35 years. He was a member of M.J. Kirby American Legion Post 170. David enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He liked touring Hannen Lake and checking in to see how many people were camping and seeing the geese and their babies.
David is survived by his wife, Patty; his three children, Jeff (Tiffany), Jenny and Steven (Mikki); five grandchildren, Jordan, Masen, Ryan, Lili and Abella; his father, Francis; three brothers, Byran (Tracie), Brett (Diane) and Brad (Cindi) Kimm; four sisters, Mary (Doug) Kach, Sharon (Bob) Gorsch, Reg and Brenda (Gary) Hansen; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha; grandson, Joey; brother, Johnny; and grandparents, Porter and Ester Kimm and Mary and Albert Kuester.
