Help name Iowa’s Megabus
Jul. 28, 2015 8:11 pm
Is Iowa the 'wild prairie rose” or 'The Hawkeye State”? Or maybe it's 'The Tall Corn State.”
Those are the three choices in the running for the name of Iowa's Megabus. The public will get to select Iowa's moniker in a contest run by the express bus company, which offers daily trips between Omaha, Des Moines,
Iowa City, Davenport and Chicago.
'All of the bus names on the ballot were chosen because they are heavily associated with Iowa or commemorate a piece of the state's history,” the company said in a statement.
Megabus started the 'Name the Bus” promotion to honor each of the states in which the company operates. Residents and customers can vote online for what each state should be called.
'It's to honor the different states we work in and it's a way to get our customers more engaged,” Megabus spokesman Sean Hughes said.
The company, which is a subsidiary of Paramus, N.J.-based Coach USA, operates in 33 states, Washington D.C. and Ontario, Canada.
Voting is underway online at http://us.megabus.com/namethebus.aspx until August 17. The winning bus names will be announced on Megabus' social media channels.
The name will be displayed on the left side of the bus above the door near the 'M” of the Megabus logo, Hughes said.
'We value our customers' opinions and are excited to see the name they select to represent their state,” Dale Moser, chief executive of Megabus said in a statement. 'This is our way of honoring the customers of each of
the states that have helped our business to grow.”
