Richard A. "Dick" Corell, 85, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, June 1, 2017, in Mount Pleasant. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at First United Methodist Church, 309 N. Main St., Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Deborah J. Stowers presiding. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 5, at Forest Home Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, with a flag presentation conducted by Iowa Military Funeral Honors. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Corell; children, Cheryl (Fran) Moe of Cedar Rapids and Michael (Wendy) Corell of Winterset; brother, Jim Corell of Buffalo, Wyo.; sisters, Carolyn Culver of Waterloo and Ann Coleman of Berryville, Ark.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick was born Oct. 18, 1931, in Keota, Iowa. He graduated from Sigourney High School and Coe College. He married JoAnn Maxwell on July 12, 1953, in Mount Pleasant and served in the the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 in Germany. After his discharge, he made his home in Cedar Rapids, where he ran Corell's Outdoor Machines Sales and Service. He also was a salesman for Martin Brothers Restaurant Supply.
In 1977, he moved to Mount Pleasant to farm and operate Maxwell's Market.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Lewelling Quaker Museum in Salem or Great River Hospice.
