Letter: North Liberty candidate ready to lead

Fresh out of pharmacy school at the University of Iowa, I found a home and community in North Liberty. Much has changed since I arrived in 2009. Our tremendous growth, which brought wonderful opportunities, brings significant challenges as well. Neighborhoods grew out of cornfields, stressing our streets, our sidewalks, our schools, and our ability to get around town.
Economic growth has had ups and downs. Transportation was addressed, only to be shortsightedly ended by the council earlier this year with no 'Plan B” in place.
If elected to the City Council, I will work tirelessly to be your voice at the table. I will show up, advocate, and celebrate our community successes, year-round, every year. I will challenge the council to be more innovative, to ask more questions, and take action on supported projects and needs of North Liberty. We need engaged, visible leadership welcoming our new business neighbors. We need a strong vision for the next 10, 15, 20 years - and for that vision to be developed with input from all of us. We should be asking - what do we want to be? What do we want our position in the Corridor to be? I want to be a part of shaping that identity. We will reach these goals by leaning on and learning from each other, and leveraging our growth and resources.
I'm running for City Council to do my part in helping to better our community. I would be honored for your vote.
