Linn County supervisors gave final approval Wednesday to transfer the county's Wakema Park back to the City of Center Point.
The vote was unanimous, with Supervisor John Harris absent, to end the county's 99-year lease on the five-acre park. The county conservation department leased the site in 1982 and developed it as a roadside park, a function that grew outmoded with the construction of Interstate 380.
The agreement includes $180,000 from the county for improvements the city plans for the park, including construction of restrooms and a bridge spanning Apple Creek.
